What is Pilates?

Therapeutic Pilates is Pilates that focuses on the reconditioning and retraining of the injury while improving the stabilization of the core and the injured body part. 

Joseph Pilates called the discipline of Pilates 'Contrology', which form the 3 core elements:

  • Stretch

  • Strengthen

  • Control 

Movement patterns in Pilates are based on focus and intention to achieve optimal alignment, efficiency and flow of movement of the body while adding attention and breath to the movement =  Its an element of Mindfulness.

The exercises can be performed on spring guided equipment or using body weight for resistance. Either way, the focus of Pilates, is based on the precision of movement of each exercise.
